Security Policy Selection
In order to use the security functions of the software, an initial security policy has to be selected. The security policy manages all users that have access to the software and controls their individual rights to use certain functions of the application. The following security policies are available:
-
No Security Policy (default setting)
The 'No Security Policy' is the default setting of the software. All security functions will disabled and the software acts just as a regular application. -
'By Software' Security Policy
The security functions are managed by the application itself. An administrator user manages all user and data access settings. This policy is favorable for standalone installations. -
'By Windows' Security Policy
The applications user management is directly linked to the windows operating system. In order to have access to the application the user needs to have a valid windows user account for the local machine. Users may also be retrieved from a LDAP-server.
The security policy selection is the first step in setting up the softwares security system and the user will be guided by the Security Policy Wizard. Please review the chapters "Software Security Policy Wizard" and "Windows Security Policy Wizard" for a detailed description of the setup process.
After the initial security policy selection the security setup may be completed by using the following functions:
-
User Management - to add additional users
-
Data Access Control - to configure data access rules
-
Permission Schemes - to configure access to software functions
-
Password Policy - to configure detailed password settings concerning password strength and expiration
Please review these chapters for a detailed description.
