Initial Startup and Authentication

The Licensing Tool provides convenient opportunities to create licenses for labCognition products on its behalf. Hence labCognition needs to protect this sensitive part from misuse by unauthorized people. Therefore the Licensing Tool needs to be activated and handled with care and full responsibility of its registered users.

Initial Start-Up​

On very first start-up of the Licensing Tool you need to authenticate yourself and provide detailed contact information of yourself and your company. This information is first of all verified by labCognition before access to license creation is granted. Please follow the steps below to perform authentication:

  1. Double click the desktop  icon to start the Licensing Tool.
    A message is shown to inform you on the required registration process:

  2. Click OK to continue.
    A registration form is shown (See section Authentication and Activation below)

  3. Fill the authentication form properly.

  4. Click the Submit Information to LabCognition Button to submit and finalize your request.
    The following confirmation dialog is shown:

  5. Click the OK Button to continue.
    The Licensing Tool automatically closes then.

After restart, you see the following information is shown on your screen:

 

You will see that information on startup of the Licensing Tool as long as you are not authorized by labCognition.

Activation typically takes a few hours to one or two days. In the meantime labCognition will contact you or your company to verify and cross-check provided information. Access is granted after successful verification. You will not be further notified on the activation of the Licensing Tool.

Once you have been authorized you will see the User Login on startup of the Licensing Tool. See section "User Login" for details. This is the default start-up screen from now on.

Validity and duration of license creation authorization

Once creation of licenses is granted you get permission for an unlimited period of time. Permission relies on trust and honesty on both sides. However, labCognition can void permission to create licenses at any time.
