Backup​

You might want to keep the information on created licenses and updates on your computer. The Licensing Tool can automatically backup the information on created licenses into a folder on your local hard disc or local area network. The license information is stored using the default license email template accordingly. The target backup folder name and the backup file name can be configured.

Backup Folder​

The backup folder is allowed to ba any accessible folder on your local hard disc or network drive. If the folder does not exist it will be created automatically. Either enter a backup folder name into the backup folder text field or choose a folder by clicking the icon.

The default backup folder location is: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\LabCognition\LicenseTool\Created Licenses

Backup Name​

The file name of the license backup is a dynamic name which is allowed to contain placeholders. Placeholders will be replaced with license information on runtime in order to have the license information in the file name as well. You may also redirect the files into sub-folders. In this case you must use a path separator in the file name.

The default finle name is: %PRODUCT%\%VERSION%\PO_%ORDERID% %BASEPRODUCT% %LICENSETYPE%.txt

This example means:

  • A sub- folder with the product name is created.

  • In the product folder a sub-folder with the shipped software version is created.

  • The file name is build from the text "PO" plus the order identifier entered during creation into the PO# field plus the product name plus the license type.

You may also use other placeholders or a different sub-folder structure. Please refer to the section "Configuring Email Templates" for details on available placeholders. You may use all placeholders used in email templates.
